Pine Martens at The Bield

Pine Martens are very rare or even extinct in most parts of the UK. They are, however frequent visitors to The Bield due to the remote, undisturbed setting. (They are also getting to know there is a reliable food source!)

Their favourite is jam sandwiches but they also like eggs, chicken, fruit and almost anything else.

Usually nocturnal these local Pine Martens are often seen during the day and at most times through the year.

There are many rare and exotic animals that can be found in the remoteness of Ardnamurchan, including Wildcat, Golden Eagle, Otters, to name but a few. Follow this link for an excellent website on Pine Martens

These are a few pictures of the Pine Martens taken in August 2005.
